Winthrop attorney Beth Harper will co-present, “Online Contract Formation – What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” at the Minnesota State Bar Association webinar on April 12, 2022.

Cases on online contract formation continue to present new and interesting fact twists—page layouts, font types and sizes, language variations, etc. Most courts have abandoned the clickwrap and browsewrap categories, which don’t describe a useful legal construct or dictate a particular result. Recently, though, some courts have crafted a new category—the “sign-in wrap,” which other courts have criticized. The panelists cover all of that and more, with the help of screenshots included in courts’ opinions.

Tim Sitzmann and Megan Miller will be presenting an IP CLE for the Hennepin County Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Section on March 17, 2022.

Every company has intellectual property, whether it be patents, trade secrets, copyrights, or trademarks. This CLE will provide an overview of how to evaluate a company’s intellectual property and how to determine to what extent formal protection is warranted. We’ll also cover common misconceptions as well as common mistakes (and how to avoid them).

Winthrop attorney Kyle Kroll recently participated in a panel discussion, “Perspectives from the Courtroom: Attorney Panel,” to University of Minnesota students interested in careers in law, hosted by the University’s Pre-law Advising program and University Student Legal Service. Kyle was joined by three other panelists and shared his experiences and perspectives on law school, the legal profession, and the practice of law.

On February 12, 2022, Kyle Kroll and Megan Miller attended the ABA’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Assembly – the principal policy-making body of the ABA YLD.  They joined a full delegation of nine from Minnesota and hundreds of leaders across the country.  Kyle will be voting in the House of Delegates on February 14, 2022 as Minnesota’s Young Lawyer Representative.  The resolutions before the ABA call for increased accommodations for lactating individuals in the profession, reforms on student loan debt, the presumption of child presence in court proceedings, protecting national elections, and much more.
