The lists of outstanding lawyers are compiled by conducting exhaustive peer review surveys in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. If the votes for a lawyer are positive enough for recognition by Best Lawyers, that lawyer must maintain those votes in subsequent polls to remain in each edition. Lawyers are not permitted to pay any fee to participate in or be recognized by Best Lawyers.

Winthrop & Weinstine Attorneys Named to Benchmark Litigation’s 2025 “40 & Under” List

MINNEAPOLIS— August 12, 2025. Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A. is pleased to announce that Kyle Kroll and Quin Seiler have been named to the 2025 edition of the “40 & Under” List by Benchmark Litigation, the only publication to focus exclusively on litigation in the United States. The list recognizes attorneys, all aged 40 or younger, who have been deemed the most promising emerging talent in their respective litigation communities by peers and clients.

Benchmark Litigation identifies the leading U.S. trial attorneys and firms at the local and national levels. The publication’s rankings and editorials are the result of extensive interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house counsel.

Tom Boyd Receives 2025 “Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service” from the Eighth Circuit Bar Association

MINNEAPOLIS – August 4, 2025. Winthrop & Weinstine is proud to announce that litigation shareholder Tom Boyd has been recognized as a 2025 recipient of the “Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service” by the Eighth Circuit Bar Association.

This prestigious award, which is presented to only ten individuals each cycle, is given by the Eighth Circuit Bar Association based on nominations provided by the chief judges of each district in the Circuit. Recipients of the award have demonstrated professional excellence in their field, are leaders within the legal community, have contributed significant work toward the delivery of volunteer legal services to underserved members of the community, have been honored by their peers, and have served as a mentor and role model for up-and-coming attorneys. Tom exemplifies each of these characteristics to a “T.”

Tom, an experienced appellate attorney, has practiced law with Winthrop & Weinstine for 36 years. He is a founding member and former chair of both the Appellate Practice Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association (“MSBA”) and the Eighth Circuit Bar Association, is a fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, an elected member of the American Law Institute, and member of the Minnesota Board of Law Examiners. He has also chaired the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society and the Historical Society of the United States Courts in the Eighth Circuit.

Tom’s accolades are too numerous to individually list, but of note, he has been named a Minnesota Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer multiple times, is named among the “Leaders in their Field” by Chambers USA, has been named a “Local Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation since 2015, has been recognized in Minnesota Super Lawyers® since 2000 (including as a “Top 100” attorney), and has been included in The Best Lawyers in America® in multiple practice areas for 15+ years and has been named a “Minneapolis Lawyer of the Year” by the publication several times over.

Tom is also generous in sharing both his time and experience—through his pro bono legal services as well as his mentorship. Tom has been recognized by the MSBA as a North Star Lawyer for the provision of 50+ hours of pro bono legal services every year since the program’s inception in 2012, and was awarded the “Improving Access to Justice/Pro Bono Service” Excellence Award by the Hennepin County Bar Association in 2024. Tom has connected what is likely to be hundreds of attorneys with opportunities to serve and give back, and he is always willing to mentor attorneys who take him up on the offer. Tom is known to listen without judgement, have an abundance of patience, and to always keep his door open. He is responsive to his mentees, while also being deeply considerate and deliberate in his feedback, and always keeps their development and well-being top-of-mind.

Tom is well-deserving of recognition for the “Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service,” a remarkable achievement and a true reflection of his practice, service, and values. Winthrop is made better by Tom’s generosity and leadership.
