The magazine also publishes an annual “Top 5” list featuring attorneys in certain practice areas who received the highest point totals in the Minnesota nomination, research, and review process, as well as a “Top 100” list, noting those who received the highest point totals in the Minnesota overall. The 2026 “Top 5” Business Litigation list features Winthrop & Weinstine shareholder Thomas Boyd, who has been a benchmark of the firm for nearly forty years. In addition, this year’s “Top 100” list includes Thomas Boyd and litigation shareholder Matthew McBride.

The rigorous selection process is led by a research team of attorneys who review the credentials of potential candidates and assign points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. The point totals from the general survey and research process are then added to arrive at a final tally and those with the highest point totals are named to the Rising Stars list.
