With shifting policies impacting our current legislative arena, it is a dynamic and transformative time to be working in the regulatory field. I counsel clients across a wide variety of industries as they navigate these changes, from developing more resilient power grids, to ensuring and maintaining environmental compliance, to responding to a multitude of government investigative inquiries, demands, and enforcement actions. If it’s regulatory in nature or there is a governmental agency involved, I’m here to help. I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve long been a nerd when it comes to regulatory law, and love diving into timely and topical discussions and keeping up on the latest in the practice.
In my practice, I help my clients understand complex regulatory processes and navigate any resulting action items. I represent clients in all manner of proceedings, including contested case hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings, arbitrations, and actions in state courts. Working with my clients, I value being able to quickly break down any challenge they are facing into manageable pieces, triaging levels of urgency, and properly allocating time and resources.
Outside of work, I have always been inclined to the outdoors and I do a lot of rock climbing, hiking, and camping. I also have a trade degree in boat building, and still enjoy spending my free time woodworking.
I represent clients with energy regulatory matters, including general rate case proceedings, certificates of need and route permits, state and federal regulatory body investigations, contested case hearings, and more. I help clients navigate the various regulatory processes to gain agency approval for a wide variety of programs and infrastructure, or to intervene in matters that impact their interests.
I advise clients in connection with environmental matters, including those involving regulatory takings, permitting matters, compliance with federal and state environmental laws, land use and property rights, and more. Prior to joining the firm, I was a legal intern with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, where I gained insight into agency activities and policies.
I represent clients before state and federal regulators, negotiate directly with various agencies, respond to government investigations, and assist my clients in navigating and defending against enforcement actions. I also advise clients in connection with civil investigative demands and other interactions with Attorney General’s Offices.
