Tom Boyd will be presenting at MSBA’s “Community Conversation: Exploring Experiential Pathways to Licensure.”

On March 12, 2024, the Minnesota State Supreme Court issued an order regarding the Minnesota Board of Law Examiners’ (Board) comprehensive study of the Minnesota bar examination and alternative experiential approaches to evaluating competency for admission to practice law in Minnesota. In addition to accepting the Board’s recommendation to adopt the NextGen Uniform Bar Examination effective July 2027, the order also created an Implementation Committee to further explore and develop a curricular-based pathway for assessment.

Join the Implementation Committee members for a community conversation designed to share details about the proposed experiential pathways, answer questions, and gather feedback from members of the legal community.

Presenters:

  • Tom Boyd, Shareholder, Winthrop & Weinstine, Implementation Committee Member
  • Emily Eschweiler, Director, MN Board of Law Examiners, Board of CLE, Board of Legal Cert, and Office of Lawyer Registration
  • Carol Chomsky, Professor of Law Emerita, University of Minnesota School of Law, Implementation Committee Member
