Thomas M. Murray

Good dealmaking starts with understanding the business, the people behind it, and what they hope to build next.

My Approach

What I enjoy most about mergers and acquisitions is the opportunity to immerse myself in a new business with every transaction. Each deal presents a different set of challenges, priorities, and opportunities, and it is rewarding to understand what makes a business successful and help its owners and purchasers achieve their desired outcome. Whether a client is preparing to sell the company they’ve spent their career developing or pursuing an acquisition to fuel future growth and develop their own career, I recognize the significance of these decisions and the importance of getting the details right.

My understanding of the difficulties of running a business began long before law school. I started working for my family’s construction company when I was very young. It was there I learned firsthand the value of hard work, attention to detail, and seeing a project through to completion. Working alongside family members gave me an appreciation for the dedication and 24/7 time commitment required to build and operate a successful business, as well as the relentless onslaught challenges business owners face every day. That foundation shapes how I approach my work today. Every transaction represents more than a business decision; it reflects the culmination years of investment, hard work, and personal commitment. You worked nonstop in developing your business, it’s now our job to work nonstop to get you the best outcome possible.

Outside of work, I am an avid golfer, downhill skier, and a die-hard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. During the summer, you’ll often find me boating and spending weekends with family up on Gull Lake in Northern Minnesota or Bald Eagle Lake in the cities.
