My Approach

Real Estate first became a part of my career as an environmental scientist and consultant working in brownfield redevelopment and Superfund remediation. As a real estate and environmental lawyer, I help developers, investors, and lenders capture the benefits of tax credit financing on solar energy, affordable housing, and historic rehabilitation transactions, while streamlining environmental matters.

Environmental implications transcend all areas of business. My goal is to help clients navigate the regulatory system in an efficient and cost effective manner to mitigate business and environmental risk, whether their needs are in real estate, corporate transactions, or other regulatory and administrative law, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).

Outside of the office, I love anything outdoors – as a former prairie horticulturist, I love gardening, growing orchids, and anything and everything plants! I also enjoy hiking, and swimming, and going to concerts and sporting events with my significant other. In the winter months, I cross-country ski, travel, and never miss a Vikings game.

A Groundbreaking Moment in my Career

When I was doing field research collecting data to assist Carver County and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in making new rules for food waste composting site engineering, I testified at a contested hearing and recognized a disconnect between scientists and lawmakers, and I knew I could help fill that gap by pursuing a legal career.

• Represented a lender/investor in connection with a $55,000,000 tax credit financed solar energy development portfolio in Greater Minnesota.
• Represented an investor in connection with a $47,500,000 tax credit financed solar construction development portfolio in Out-state New York. Financing included ITC, USDA, and NYSERDA financing.
• Represented a lender/investor in connection with a $24,400,000 tax credit financed historic rehabilitation development in Gastonia, NC.
• Represented a lender/investor in connection with a $16,700,000 tax credit financed historic rehabilitation development in Minneapolis, MN.
• Represented a lender in connection with a $6,350,000 tax credit financed solar construction development in Vermont
• Represented a real estate developer in connection with a $42,000,000 tax credit and bond financed affordable housing new construction development in Minneapolis, MN. Financing included LIHTC, TIF, MHFA, TBRA, and FHLB financing.
• Represented a real estate developer in connection with a $36,000,000 tax credit and bond financed affordable housing rehabilitation development in Boulder, CO. Financing included LIHTC and sponsor financing.
• Represented a tax credit investor in connection with a $35,2000,000 tax credit solar construction development including three ground arrays in Out-state New York. Financing included ITC and NYSERDA financing.
• Represented a tax credit investor in connection with a $15,2000,000 tax credit solar construction development in Windsor, NY. Financing included ITC and NYSERDA financing.
• Represented a real estate developer in connection with a $37,000,000 Freddie Mac refinance of a mixed market rate and affordable housing development in St. Paul, MN.
