As someone who went to school to study philosophy and eventually set out to join the seminary, it’s safe to say that I enjoy relationship building, teaching, and deep thinking. Studying law became a natural extension of those pursuits, allowing me the opportunity to apply my critical thinking skills and desire to support others to real-world questions and projects.
Today, I leverage my ability to “dig deep” to help my clients achieve their business goals—whether that be the development of an affordable housing community in a previously-underserved neighborhood or working to clear regulatory and use restrictions for a commercial, mixed-use project. Having led projects from both the lender and developer sides of the table, I understand these occasionally competing (but often aligned) interests in a nuanced way. I strive to provide my clients with a clearly defined path forward and, when necessary, adapt to find a creative solution that gets everyone successfully across the finish line.
Outside the office, I enjoy fly fishing, and I’m constantly on the hunt for new water. I’m also an avid reader of pretty much anything—my favorites are classics, horror, and fiction—and I’m a musician who loves performing whenever I can.
I counsel financial institutions throughout the lending process, including construction and real estate financing, secured and unsecured revolving credit and term loans, and evaluating properties and borrowers for compliance with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and HUD guidelines.
Experience
I represent businesses and nonprofit organizations on affordable and market-rate commercial and multifamily housing projects. I have experience analyzing complex due diligence, drafting and reviewing property transfer documentations, and advising clients on commercial leases.
