Every deal is different, and each requires a different approach.

My Approach

What I enjoy most about my work representing clients in commercial lending transactions is that each one is different. I have the opportunity to listen to business owners, learn about what they need, and help them reach their objectives. I work to understand the motivations of each party – not just what their goals are, but why – which directs my work with banks and lending institutions, ensuring that the deals we put together make sense for everyone.

Before law school, I worked as Operations Manager for a non-profit in Minneapolis writing grants and overseeing all aspects of the finances, including payroll and the annual budget. In addition to this foundation in business finance, I credit my experience there with helping me understand the constraints and opportunities that businesses face.

Outside of work, I’m a huge soccer fan, and I also enjoy chess, golf, and reading.

GROUNDBREAKING MOMENT IN MY CAREER

I almost didn’t attend law school – I had always wanted to go, but the idea of it initially seemed daunting to me. My coworkers and family encouraged me to go, and hearing about their experiences helped to demystify it a bit for me. It was through them that I realized that lawyers are not some separate breed, but simply people who use a skill to help other people. That’s how I work with clients now – doing whatever I can to help them reach their goals.
