My passion is making other people successful. Every client I work with has their own individual hopes, goals, and ideas of success, and I respect the trust that they put in me to help achieve those goals. I have seen first-hand that a business’s interaction with an attorney is one small part of the bigger picture, but one where I intend to make a meaningful impact by providing critical and strategic advice. From my experience as Assistant General Counsel for a bank, to my upbringing in my own family’s business, I am not only familiar with the day-to-day issues that businesses face, but also the hard work and decision-making happening behind the scenes.
With that understanding, I have one simple philosophy – to be present for my clients. I am here to talk about anything that may be on their mind, whether it be complex specialized financing, a contentious obstacle that is holding up closing, or the highs and lows of being loyal to Minnesota sports teams.
I put high energy into my work, so outside of the office, I like to dial it back. I work in my garden, spend time at the lake, or get together with friends and family. I particularly enjoy strong cups of coffee, football games on Sundays, and fiction novels.
During my very first week in private practice, I was asked to close two transactions for the sale and purchase of corporate aircraft in two days – something I had never done before and on a very short deadline. After internalizing all of my fears and anxieties of how I would become a total failure, I simply decided that failure was not an option.
So, I dug in to the documents and asked a lot of questions. Before I knew it, both deals were closing on the same day and we got the job done. The client walked away happy, and I walked away knowing that with determination and hard work, most anything is possible. This also solidified for me that deal making and the closing table is my passion.
I represent banks and other financial institutions in a wide range of commercial lending matters, including specialized asset finance, equipment finance, real estate, and government guaranteed lending.
Prior to entering private practice, I served as Assistant General Counsel for an independently owned national bank, where I was responsible for drafting and negotiating loan documents, as well as managing a litigation portfolio and advising on a wide range of internal operations matters.
