Employment law affects nearly everyone at some point in their lives. I appreciate being able to help companies work through challenges or make important decisions about their policies, because these have a great impact on the employees. One of the joys of my practice is that I get to listen to people share their goals, thoughts and concerns, understand these in the context of the greater business strategy, and then find a way to work within the law to achieve my clients’ goals as a company and as an employer.
I knew early in my legal career that I would focus on employment counseling, and I use all of that past experience in a variety of situations to inform and guide each new representation. Each employee and business has a story to tell, and by seeing the full picture, I am better able to guide clients to long-lasting employee-employer relationships.
Outside of the office, I enjoy being involved in sports, especially basketball and slow pitch softball, and I enjoy cooking with my husband and going on walks with our rescue mutt Ruby.
I represent clients in connection with all aspects of employment counseling, including advising on and drafting employer handbooks and policies regarding hiring, leave and accommodation requests, discipline, termination, and compliance with state and federal laws across multiple jurisdictions. I also have experience drafting contracts including employment agreements, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. I have a particular interest in preventing EEO, FMLA, and whistleblower claims.
