Benjamin D. Gilchrist

Litigation is all about sharing a compelling story.

My Approach

Litigation is a balancing act between the policies of a given law and the underlying facts of a matter. Nothing happens in a vacuum, so you can’t have one without the other. For me, one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role as an attorney is being able to deliver a compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves the facts of a particular situation with the theories and rules at the heart of the matter. I view my role as that of a translator, both for my clients in distilling complex laws and technical jargon, and for the court in synthesizing the facts and law into a winning argument. I work closely with my clients to understand their business objectives and to identify the best path forward to accomplish their goals.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my wife and son. I love being outdoors and you’ll often find me with my family at the lake, swimming or boating, running, or just spending time outside (even if that includes yardwork). I’m also an avid reader and writer – I’ve written and self-published a novel – and am always looking for my next fiction read.
