I represent creditors, including banks and other financial institutions, lenders, receivers, and businesses on all types of creditors’ rights, workouts, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters. Prior to joining Winthrop and Weinstine I clerked for the Honorable Kesha Tanabe in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and while in law school was the Student Director of the University of Minnesota Law School’s Bankruptcy Clinic.
My Approach
Prior to attending law school, I started my career at a healthcare valuation and financial consulting firm. It was there that I regularly worked with attorneys and knew I wanted to attend law school. I also took a detour to chase my childhood dreams and worked for an NFL and college football analytics and consulting firm. These experiences developed skills like interpreting complex data and regulations, working under pressure, and identifying solutions for high-stakes issues—all of which help me today in crafting clear strategies for clients. Vastly different fields, but the same logic: to find structure in the chaos and to identify a path forward.
I view myself as a numbers guy in a non-numbers field. I know my way around a balance sheet and routinely help my clients spot issues ahead of time and help identify potential problems in their earliest stages. Working within a code-based structure, like the Bankruptcy Code, plays to my analytical strength and provides my clients with a framework within which to reach a resolution. I bring options and creative solutions to the table and help find a path toward achieving the best possible outcome for my clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy golfing, spending time with my family, and watching football. While working in the sports industry dulled my interest for a bit, I still enjoy cheering for the Badgers and Vikings (much to my Wisconsin-based family’s dismay).
