I represent clients in connection with a range of aspects of real estate financing, including representing investors in renewable energy development as well as the developers of affordable housing. I appreciate understanding the perspective both from the investor and the developer side, and knowing the goals of each helps me work with clients to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
In my practice working on tax credit financing for affordable housing and renewable energy projects, I’m excited by helping deals qualify for government incentives that reduce costs while improving local communities. I appreciate the chance to work on projects that are themselves generating more than just profit – it’s not just moving money around, or arguing over petty details; it’s creating housing or producing energy.
I have a background in economics and business, but I pursued a legal education because I wanted to understand the rules by which parties interact in the business world. Limited resources drive business decisions: by understanding competing incentives in a deal, I can help take some of the stress off the shoulders of clients. I work every day to provide service by not just knowing the rules of the game, but how to make those rules work for my clients’ success.
Outside of work, I enjoy getting into a canoe for the afternoon and spending time on the lakes or watching the Minnesota Vikings with my wife and son.
