Counsel

Edward "Teddy" J. Fleming, V

My clients know they can call me for anything – legal issue or not.

My Approach

Being a business attorney is a second career for me. I started out near Chicago as a bilingual social worker counseling gang-involved youth, and law might seem like a sharp detour from that life. However, they both have at least one thing in common: if you’re willing to work hard, be kind, and stay open to the process, incredible things will happen.

One of the things I love about my practice is that each business, and each deal, has a different story and a different cast of characters – I get to learn something new every day. I approach every representation from a place of curiosity and partnership, with a focus on sharing passion and information with skill and humility, working collaboratively with all parties to get to a place that makes the most sense for everyone.

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me outside with my wife, Annabelle, and our four kids  – we’re the uncool parents who don’t allow the kids to have screens. I train for marathons and sometimes even try to run them, and I still play baseball for my town’s team. I like to stay active in my local community, and I coach my sons’ football and baseball teams.

A Groundbreaking Moment in my Career

I had never thought about being a lawyer until I was at Boston College working on my Masters in Social Work where a mentor suggested the idea of law school. I wasn’t ready to give up social work and stayed in it for the better part of a decade before making the jump. Almost immediately upon starting law school I knew I was where I was supposed to be – I loved the hard work and the challenge, and I have felt at home in my practice as a business attorney ever since. I am grateful to my mentor for guiding me here, and for finding my calling as a counselor in the truest sense of the word.
