Jordan Humphrey is an associate in the Corporate &
Transactions group. He regularly works with clients in the early stages of
their businesses, and has represented clients in a wide range of industries,
including breweries, wineries and distilleries; franchise restaurants; medical
supplies, devices and consulting; and manufacturers and distributors. He
advises clients with matters related to the operation of their businesses, such
as formalizing relationships with fellow owners, partners and key stakeholders;
entity formation; licensing agreements; commercial and residential leases; and
employment matters. In addition, he has advised clients in both the purchase
and sale of businesses.
Jordan places a special emphasis on representing the
craft beverage industry, and in addition to advising on start-up and
operational matters, has experience dealing with the specialized matters that
affect the industry, including obtaining federal and state licensing approvals,
and the sale of distribution rights in multiple jurisdictions. He has also
helped craft brewery and distillery clients navigate the pitfalls of the widely
differing state laws and regulations surrounding the sampling of alcoholic
beverages, distribution of alcohol-related marketing materials, and the donation
of alcoholic beverages to various non-profit causes and community events.
While in law school, Jordan served as a summer associate
with Winthrop & Weinstine, and previously served as a business agent for
the United Food and Commercial Workers in the Washington, DC metro area, where
he represented thousands of retail food workers and registered nurses, and
honed his skills in negotiating and resolving disputes in a manner that was
beneficial to all parties.
He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from
William Mitchell College of Law, where he was president of the Student Bar
Association and the Alumni Committee chair. He earned his B.A., magna cum
laude, from the University of Saint Thomas, with a major in Journalism and a
minor in Spanish, and upon graduation, served as press intern for U.S. Senator
Amy Klobuchar in Washington, DC.
