Jon Armour is a shareholder with Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., having joined the firm in 1998 after practicing for two years in Milwaukee, WI. Jon’s practice focuses on the areas of construction and real estate financing, general commercial financing, secured transactions, commercial bankruptcy and creditors’ remedies. He routinely represents national, regional and community banks, hedge funds and private equity funds, operating businesses and real estate developers on a wide variety of financing matters varying in geographic location, size and complexity.

Jon has extensive experience representing clients in the acquisition and sale of distressed debt, real estate and related assets across the country. He has managed due diligence projects involving teams of attorneys, paralegals and business professionals with combined asset/pool values in excess of $1 billion.

Over the past few years, Jon has also been developing a specialty practice representing clients involved in the craft brewing industry, and currently serves as outside general counsel for Surly Brewing Company.

Jon lives just west of Downtown Minneapolis with his wife, Pam, and his two boys, Keller and Duncan.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for NiceRide Minnesota, a non-profit urban bike share program, the Board of Directors for SPEDCO, a certified SBA loan development company, and the Board of Directors for Surly Gives a Damn, the non-profit arm of Surly Brewing Company.  In his spare time, Jon enjoys downhill skiing and is an avid road and mountain biker, having raced for Grand Performance for many years before switching to sprint course triathlons.
