Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., Announces New Shareholders and Associates
Minneapolis, MN – January 12, 2015.  Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to formally announce the promotion to shareholder of six lawyers: Michelle Dawson, Brett Klein, Kristopher (Tip) Lee, Erin Mathern, Paul Robbennolt and Michelle Witzany. In addition, Noreen Johnson Sedgeman and Doug Wolgamot have been promoted to managing associates.

Michelle Dawson practices in the Intellectual Property group, helping clients achieve their intellectual property management goals by providing a wide range of patent expertise and services, including patent prosecution, patent litigation, patent licensing, and patent-related corporate deal work. She has also developed extensive experience in a number of patent office proceedings, including reexaminations, reissues, and accelerated examinations.

Brett Klein practices in the Intellectual Property group, and focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also offers strategic advice to client regarding growth and management of their patent portfolios.  In addition, Brett has experience in contractual negotiations of intellectual property rights for joint ventures and patent due diligence investigations for corporate transactions.

Kristopher (Tip) Lee practices in the Commercial Lending and Creditors’ Remedies & Bankruptcy groups. Tip works with banks and other financial lending institutions to develop work-out strategies and navigate the complexities of collection, as well as in structuring and documenting loans.

Erin Mathern practices in the Real Estate group, focusing on real estate development and finance.  She represents for-profit and non-profit developers in a variety of complex matters, including land acquisition and assembly, development planning, entitlements, governmental subsidies, and the use of various financing mechanisms, including loan and grant programs administered by federal, state, and local governments, tax-exempt bonds and tax increment financing.   

Paul Robbennolt practices in the Intellectual Property group. He is an experienced patent litigator and trial attorney whose practice focuses on patent infringement, trade secret, trademark, and antitrust litigation matters. Paul is also a registered patent attorney and has prosecuted patents in a wide variety of technologies.

Michelle Witzany practices in the Real Estate group. She focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions, and has extensive experience in handling all aspects of the closing process as well as a unique background in property management. She is also heavily involved in the firm’s wind energy development group.

Noreen Johnson Sedgeman practices in the Corporate group, and handles matters related to mergers & acquisitions, contract negotiation, entity formation, securities, and banking.  She is skilled in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, corporate governance documents, employment agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.

Douglas Wolgamot practices in the Tax, Trusts & Estates practice group.  Doug advises high net worth individuals and families on estate, tax and charitable planning, trust and estate administration, probate administration, and estate and trust controversies. Prior to practicing law, Doug worked as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
