Tami Diehm Receives Finance & Commerce’s Top Women in Finance Honors
MINNEAPOLIS, September 25, 2014 — Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to announce that shareholder Tami Diehm has been selected as one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Women in Finance for 2014. Diehm is among 50 honorees being recognized for making significant contributions to their professions, communities and society.

“Tami shows how hard work, dedication and giving back to the community are the building blocks to a fulfilling career,” said Scott Dongoske, President of Winthrop & Weinstine. “Her financial skills and expertise with real estate development and local governments are a boon for not only her clients, but for her community.”

As a firm shareholder, Diehm has more than a decade of experience in complex real estate and development matters. In her practice, she has represented local and national clients in real estate transactions involving multiple levels of government approvals, environmental challenges and various forms of public and private financing. In addition to her extensive experience with real estate financing, Diehm has the unique experience of having expertise in campaign finance law, advising both for-profit and non-profit organizations on the complex rules regulating the regulatory and tax consequences of political spending.

In her community, Diehm is currently serving her third term as an elected city council member for Columbia Heights, where she is also a member of the city’s Economic Development Authority and the Chair of the city’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority. In this capacity, Diehm uses her skills to make policy decisions that not only directly impact taxpayers, but also the financial health of her community.

When not practicing law or serving as an elected official, Diehm finds time to serve as the president of the board of directors of LegalCORPS, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing free legal assistance in transactional matters to low-income entrepreneurs and innovators and small non-profits in Minnesota. She also serves as a member of the Metropolitan Council’s Land Use Advisory Committee, has served on the Nicollet-Central Policy Advisory Committee and serves on the building committee for Crescent Cove, a non-profit corporation seeking to build a children’s hospice in the Twin Cities.

Diehm and other honorees will be celebrated Thursday, November 20, 2014 during a special awards event at The Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis.
