Stephen R. Baird
Intellectual Property and Trademark and Brand Management practice groups, and
counsels clients on trademark law, related unfair competition law and copyright
law, as well as branding strategies and Internet domain issues. He also handles
trademark litigation matters, and manages both large and small U.S. and
international trademark portfolios for a wide variety of companies. Mr. Baird
is also the founder and lead author of the nationally recognized IP and
branding law blog, DuetsBlog.
David A. Davenport
’s complex litigation
experience spans a variety of litigation matters, ranging from
multimillion-dollar IP cases; to violations of high-stakes, non-competition
agreements; to theft of valuable trade secrets; to real estate, finance and
banking disputes; to shareholder disputes. Recently, Mr. Davenport successfully secured a $10 million arbitration award
in an extremely complicated wrongful termination and defamation case, which, in
addition to restoring to Mr. Davenport’s client his good name, has resulted in
what may be the largest award in a defamation case.
Devan V. Padmanabhan
is a patent litigator whose experience includes a
wide range of technologies and industries, and crosses all intellectual
property areas, including patent, copyright, unfair competition, trademark, and
technology-based cases. In the recently decided copyright case of American Institute of Physics and John Wiley
& Sons, Inc. v. Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, P.A.
, through the
verdict that the use of journal articles as support in the prosecution of a
patent constitutes fair use, Mr. Padmanabhan’s achievement for the defendants
did nothing less than ensure that the U.S. patent system can continue to
operate in an economically feasible way.
