Nathan J. Witzany Joins Intellectual Property Department at Winthrop & Weinstine

MINNEAPOLIS, MN. Nathan J. Witzany has joined the Intellectual Property department at Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A. Mr. Witzany, an experienced patent lawyer, is a member of the Patent Law & Prosecution, Intellectual Property, and Patent Litigation practice groups. He was formerly with the international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP.

Mr. Witzany’s practice covers many areas of intellectual property, and particularly patent procurement (domestic and foreign), patentability opinions, non-infringement and clearance opinions, validity opinions, diligence, licensing, and strategic patent counseling. He focuses on computer-related devices and software, electronics, data storage technologies, packaging, medical devices, mechanical devices and business methods. Mr. Witzany works closely with Winthrop & Weinstine’s patent litigators, providing him with an invaluable insight as to how the courts impact strategies for acquiring patent rights.

In addition, Mr. Witzany is an adjunct professor of the patent drafting course at Hamline Law School. In this role, he relies on his experience to provide students with the basic skill set needed to enter the stimulating world of patent prosecution.

He received his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, magna cum laude, his Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota.
