MINNEAPOLIS, MN – February 3, 2011
. Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is proud to once again partner with the University of Minnesota Law School
and participate in the Minority Mentorship Program. The program will pair University of Minnesota Law School students with 14 experienced, licensed attorneys at Winthrop & Weinstine.
The firm will hold a kick-off event on Tuesday, February 8, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in their downtown Minneapolis office. Each law student will meet his or her mentor to discuss personal and professional development plans.
Commenting on the mentoring program, participant Aimée D. Dayhoff
said, “The students gain powerful insights into what it actually means to practice law and what a day in the life of an attorney entails. They also gain a connection to the legal community, which is really important as they make their way out into the real world.”
Prior to being accepted into the program, each student must write a personal ethics mission, identify two “lawyering” experiences they would like to observe or participate in, and write an outline on two or more legal topics they’ve discussed with their mentor. Participating in the program is a great way for the firm to stay connected to the local law school. The attorneys take great pride in watching the mentees graduate and become practicing attorneys. The mentoring relationship is one that can last a lifetime.
