Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., Announces New Shareholders and Associates
Minneapolis, MN – February 6, 2017.  Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to formally announce that Jeffrey Drennan, Christina Rieck Loukas and Kevin McLain have been promoted to shareholders, and Scott Jahnke and Evan Sheets have been promoted to managing associates.  

Jeffrey Drennan practices in the Real Estate group, representing clients in a broad and complicated range of tax, real estate and corporate matters, including formation and structuring of entities, real estate reorganizations, financial restructurings, acquisitions and divestitures.  He is experienced in real estate finance, tax-exempt bond financing, HUD financing, Freddie Mac financing, Fannie Mae financing, tax increment financing, public housing funds, HOME and CDBG funds, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of commercial buildings, historic buildings, affordable housing, mixed-use residential and commercial projects and associated tax credits.  Jeff has significant experience in real estate debt and equity investments including syndication of tax credits involving low income housing tax credits, historic tax credits and new market tax credits.

Christina Rieck Loukas practices in the firm’s Business and Commercial Litigation group, and handles a wide variety of disputes, including shareholder or limited partner disputes, real estate litigation, banking and securities law litigation, construction litigation, and general commercial contract matters. In her practice, Christina also addresses and resolves the unique issues that can arise in connection with low-income housing tax credit developments. Christina has extensive experience at all levels of the litigation process, and represents a wide variety of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and individuals, and her experience spans a variety of industries, including banking, real estate, construction, and energy, among others. A skilled and creative negotiator, Christina is dedicated to achieving favorable outcomes for her clients, either as the result of trial, settlement or arbitration.

Kevin McLain practices in the Real Estate group. He represents clients in complex commercial real estate transactions, including those involving federal and state tax credits and loan and grant programs, negotiating construction contracts on large commercial projects, as well as resolving construction contract disputes involving all parties in the construction process.  

Scott Jahnke is a member of Winthrop & Weinstine’s tax credit and real estate groups. Scott’s practice focuses on complex real estate transactions, primarily those involving federal low-income housing tax credits, federal historic tax credits, state historic tax credits, new markets tax credits, tax-exempt bond financing, tax-increment financing, and various other federal, state, and local subsidy programs.

Evan Sheets advises public and private businesses in a variety of industries regarding general corporate and securities matters, including corporate governance, debt and equity financing, and securities law compliance. He also represents clients in a wide range of corporate transactions, with an emphasis on venture capital and growth equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and the general representation of both established and emerging growth companies. Evan routinely advises on the formation, structuring and operation of investment funds and real estate investment trusts (REITs), and his experience also includes corporate, limited partnership and limited liability company formation, structuring and counseling.  

The year of 2016 was one of continued growth for the firm, which welcomed 14 new attorneys over the course of the year: Shareholder Elizabeth Schmiesing (Regulatory), and associates Raha Assadi-Lamouki (Commercial Lending), Tucker Chambers (Intellectual Property), Catherine Cumming (Real Estate), Erik Didrikson (Community Banking), Michael Divine (Trusts & Estates), Alexander Hagstrom (Litigation), C.
