Winthrop & Weinstine Attorneys Give Pro Bono Legal Advice to Small Companies Through LegalCORPS

Minneapolis, Minn.
—Helping low-income owners of small businesses and nonprofit organizations is on the agenda for some Winthrop & Weinstine attorneys who are volunteering their time and expertise to aid businesses and organizations that can't afford legal fees.

Through LegalCORPS, a nonprofit group which pairs volunteer lawyers with small businesses and organizations, Winthrop & Weinstine attorneys are participating in drop-in legal clinics. Legal clinics provide business owners the opportunity to ask questions and get a better sense of direction in which their business is headed without a fee.

Not only are the clinics beneficial to the business owners, but to the attorneys as well, who attend the clinics in pairs. Matched with a complimentary or contrasting partner, attorneys can not only answer a wider range of questions but can learn more about their colleagues and their respective practice areas. Attorneys also have the opportunity to serve the community in which they practice.

Legal clinics sponsored by LegalCORPS are open to the public and are free of charge. The clinic dates and time are located on the LegalCORPS Web site on their Microbusiness Info page. Drop-in clinics provide a business with 30 minutes of general legal advice. Each participant must fill out a form before entering into conversation with attorneys. For more information, please see the LegalCORPS Web site.
